This Civil War vocabulary word interactive sort is just what you need if you teach fifth-grade social studies. This interactive sort asks students to sort between keywords when discussing the Causes & Events Leading to the Civil War. Make sure that your students are able to tell the difference between some of the key terms and vocabulary involved in this important unit. This would be a perfect assessment or interactive notebook activity after teaching about the Causes & Events Leading to the Civil War. I've included a vocabulary foldable for students to use as you teach what the key terms mean for use in interactive notebooks. Students are asked to cut out each sentence and decide whether it fits with the vocabulary words listed below:
state's rights-slavery-Uncle Tom's Cabin-Abolitionist-John Brown-Harpers Ferry-cultural difference-constitutional difference-economic difference
Students then glue under the correct heading on the included sheet OR paste into a social study interactive journal. An answer key is included for easy grading.
