This interactive sort asks students to sort between key vocabulary when discussing the major events of the Civil War such as will review each of the major events of the Civil War like secession and Fort Sumter, Battle of Gettysburg, Atlanta Campaign, March to the Sea, and the Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse. Make sure that your students are able to tell the difference between some of the key terms and vocabulary involved in this important unit. This would be a perfect assessment or interactive notebook activity after teaching about the major events of the Civil War. I've included a vocabulary foldable for students to use as you teach what the key terms means for use in interactive notebooks. Students are asked to cut out each sentence and decide whether it fits with the vocabulary words listed below:
✸Battle of Gettysburg
✸"March to the Sea"
✸Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse
Students then glue under the correct heading on the included sheet OR paste into social studies interactive journal. An answer key is included for easy grading.
