This was a part of my science unit on the heat. I used this to help students understand the process of insulation and to drive home the point of how insulation is different from conduction. Plus, I always enjoy a fun writing activity that correlates with science content. Students will enjoy brainstorming different insulators. They will design and draw their own home after reading the prompt about being a scientist at the bottom of the world. They should design their home to be insulated using insulators. There are several different writing pages and room for them to draw what the outside of their home would look like, as well as the inside. There is also space for them to draw themselves as a scientist in Antarctica inside their newly insulated home. This is best suited for grades 2-4 but any age enjoys designing houses! Please check back soon for the entire unit. I hope that your students enjoy!
