This interactive sort would be a perfect assessment or interactive notebook activity after teaching about Georgia Habitats. Make sure that your students are able to tell the difference between some of the key terms and vocabulary involved in this important topic. This activity meets Georgia's Standards for Science in third grade. Sorts are the perfect way for my students to practice what they know! Students are asked to cut out each sentence or picture and match it with the following words:
Barrier island, coast, continental shelf, dune, ecosystem, elevation, environment, estuary, habitat, marsh, mountain, organism, Piedmont, reed, sandbar, swamp, wetland
They then glue under the correct heading on the included sheet OR paste into a science interactive journal. An answer key is included for easy grading.
