Government is SUCH an abstract concept for third graders to understand. I created these newspapers to be a concise, yet simple way to reinforce government concepts starting with the levels and branches of government. Students will understand the branches and levels of government, be able to identify their responsibilities and give examples of each. On each newspaper, students have either 3 or 4 writing prompt questions to answer and a place to illustrate. There is a newspaper included for each branch of government, each level of government, and checks and balances. Each question comes directly from Georgia third grade social studies standards, yet is general enough for any classroom studying government. The standard is typed directly below each box as well. If you are wanting to reinforce the teaching of local, state, and national government, there is a great way! If you like this item, check out the standards correlated study guide and test that I created to go along with it!
